Bandhini, was one of projects I worked on during my stay in Kutch, a region located in Western India, renowned for its textile art.
Not only did I learn about the artform and its history but also about it’s trade value in the market. This project gave me an opportunity to interact with the artisan community and understand the significance of this artform in their culture.The images below show the process of Bandhini, a technique of tie and dye.
Process of Dye-ing
The experience in Kutch stirred my interest of working with textiles. This piece belongs to a ‘tie and dye’ workshop I volunteered for at the Tharangini block printing studio.
